Digital Imaging and PhotographyEach sample demonstrates how product photographs are enhanced or modified in some way to achieve a specific result. One such result might be modifying a photo of a partially completed product to produce an image for use in a press release. Another might be to show how a new version of a product will look before it is available. There are a number of ways to achieve these types of results; these samples are straight-up image editing/compositing using Adobe® Photoshop®. In all cases, we took the original photos prior to manipulating them. |

Solution: Press Release PhotoAn important part of this product is the different input and output settings that are shown on the dual displays. In addition to a properly shot product, individual shots of the displays were taken and combined with the product so that both can be seen clearly. |

Solution: Press Release Photo Image DesignOnly one prototype product was available to shoot, with no nomenclature yet printed on it. A transparency (slide) was shot of the product on a plain background. The image was edited to add the pad printing on the product, duplicate and scale the completed product to show the second of the pair. Suitable design elements were added to portray both the technology of and application areas for the product. |

Solution: Space Ad Image DesignThe client needed his product sitting on a beach to support a very specific promotional campaign. At 50+ feet long the product wasn't going to get any time in the sun, so we brought the sun to the product. A Caribbean beach scene, a palm tree image, and some shadow work, and Voila! |

Solution: Advanced Product PhotoThe time between product completion and shipping was often too short to accommodate a photography session. In this case, the photos had to be taken before the product was completely assembled. Components that were to be added to the machine physically were added to the photo by a combination of image editing techniques. |

Solution: Prototype Product PhotoA key proprietary component of the client's technology was only available as an intial prototype. Various marketing requirements existed for a photo of the component, but in its finished form. A photo of the prototype was taken and modified to reflect the production version of the component. (Note the gold plating over the entire part and the etched logo.) |

Solution: Engineering Change Advance PhotoExisting product photos showed older-style handles on hydraulic calibration pump. Photos of the product with new handles were required several weeks before the components would be available to manufacturing. Using engineering drawings of the new-style handles, the master product photos were airbrushed to reflect the new style. |
