Video, Animation, and
Motion Graphics

These categories are intertwined, as are the samples. Any given project will use whatever techniques are required to convey the message clearly to the target audience.

Projects can use any combination of these three basic styles:

  • 2D - "flat" illustrations, photos, and text elements
  • 2.5D - "flat" illustrations, photos, and text elements are used in a 3D layout space with lights and cameras to simulate 3D
  • 3D - full 3D models of products, internal machine operation, and other processes that need demonstrating with footage that is physically accurate, governed by physics, or needs the realism of true 3D.

Creating these types of projects requires a myriad of skills. It is the combination of these that completes the project and "sells" the message to the audience. The skills include:

  • artwork creation
  • 2D animation
  • 3D modeling, character rigging, and animation
  • lighting, textures, and materials
  • photography
  • illustration
  • videography, video editing, and compositing
  • soundbeds, sound f/x, sound editing
  • voiceover script writing, talent, and recording

To accomplish these projects, we use a variety of tools including:

  • Adobe® Illustrator® and Photoshop® for artwork creation
  • Adobe® Flash® and ActionScript 3.0 for 2D animation and interactivity
  • AutoDesk® Maya® for 3D modeling, rigging, and animation
  • Adobe® After Effects® for compositing and special effects
