Solution: Portable Welding Machine Service Manual

This service manual for a portable welding machine provides detailed troubleshooting and service procedures for locating and replacing faulty components and subassemblies. To write and produce this manual, a welding machine was disassembled and photographed at each step of the process, and procedures written from that process. Additionally, detailed parts lists were assembled and formatted, and fold-out electrical interconnect diagrams were created.

Solution: Sales Brochure

This sales brochure describes the benefits of a new technology and entirely different perspective to process control than most potential customers were used to. The copy was written to provide quick, simple comparisons of the new technology versus the old.

Solution: High-Level Technical Pre-Sales System Architecture Manual

This manual is a pre-sales system description for a high dollar semiconductor test system for Teradyne. Color illustrations and performance curves are used liberally throughout.

After a week of on-site interviews with Sales, Marketing, Applications Engineering, and Design Engineering personnel, the source materials are literally 35 pounds of notes, detailed internal documentation, and volumes of PowerPoint® presentations. All of the source information is assimilated and a detailed outline is written for the System Description. Supporting graphics are identified as well. Once the outline is approved, the Manual is written and illustrated to the outline. This one is 159 pages. Given the >$1Million price tag of these systems, the accuracy of the contents is critical to the decision-making process of their prospective customers.
