Printed Circuit Technology

Problem:

The client needed to assemble applications information on their flexible, rigid, and rigid-flex multi-layer circuitry technology from a variety of internal sources to provide their customers and sales force with a single resource to answer pre-sales, design, and technology questions. The added benefit of such a resource would be to reduce the quantity of in-bound technical calls.

In addition, they wanted to underscore their ability to provide highly cost-effective solutions for commercial applications, not just Hi-Rel or Military.

Solution:

OEM was contracted to work with the various internal "gurus" within each department to obtain technical source materials. We then defined a sequence for the presentation of the compiled information, and created a document outline. From that outline, OEM wrote, illustrated, and produced a comprehensive Design Guide describing the technology, processes, applications and other technical information needed by design engineers to work with the clients' technology.

We worked with their Marketing and Sales departments to develop a space ad that would convey the benefits of their in-depth solutions, fast turnaround, and cost-effectiveness for commercial applications.

Results:

The Design Guide has been reprinted a number of times, and continues as an integral part of the pre-sales process of our client.

Solution: Flexible Circuit Design Guide

The Designer's Guide starts with basic information on materials and types of flexible and rigid interconnection assemblies. It provides a significant amount of application information for use by an engineer who is designing a flex interconnect system. The completed Guide is 81 pages, profusely illustrated throughout. The Guide was printed and supplied as both HTML files and a fully linked/bookmarked PDF on CDROM.

Solution: Commercial Capabilities Space Advertisement

Teledyne had long been well-known for its Military products. Their capabilities were applicable to many commercial applications as well. They needed to break the "pidgeon-hole" conception of their "military-only" product offerings.
