Thermal Dynamics Corporation

(now part of Hobart)

Problem:

Thermal Dynamics manufactures portable welding machines. They had recently acquired a smaller competitor, and were integrating five of the competitors machines into their own product line.

They needed both User and Service Manuals for each of the machines.

They were under significant time constraints to have the manuals in place prior to product launch.

Solution:

Welding machines were drop-shipped to our studios. Client-supplied information was used to write and illustrate a User Manual for each model containing hazard warnings, functionality, general operating controls and instructions, and troubleshooting information.

Each machine was disassembled and photographed at each step of the process. OEM then wrote detailed service procedures for locating and replacing faulty components and subassemblies. Additionally, detailed parts lists and fold-out electrical interconnect diagrams were created for each Service Manual.

Results:

Product User and Service Manuals were in place within four (4) month window, ready for product launch.

Sales and customers requirements were met, product was shipped on time with required manuals.
